To give a new purpose to their historically famous cattle market, the City of Bruges called out to the public. A skatepark was developed by Nine Yards, a group of local skaters. In order to bring the skatepark to life we undertook a naming and branding challenge. We decided to create a name that related to the historical cattle market, but at the same time reflected the playful vibe of skateboarding culture.

The name captures the spirit of the skatepark as a place where people can come to express themselves, push their limits, and embrace their inner urban athlete. The tone of voice was designed to be energetic, exciting, and inclusive, reflecting the diverse range of people who use the skatepark. Beastwood Skatepark is more than just a place to skateboard – it’s a hub for urban athletes, supporters, artistic creatives, health enthusiasts, volunteers, art enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to add value.

The branding process started with a strategic analysis to understand the unique selling points of the skatepark and its audience. We identified that the skatepark is a community-focused, inclusive space that brings people together from all walks of life. The park’s ethos centers around the idea that everyone is welcome, regardless of their background or skill level. One thing that binds them all together is the passionate flame they carry for skateboarding. The creative branding concept for Beastwood Skatepark was developed around the idea of that mutual flame.

The branding process was an important part of creating a sense of identity and community around the skatepark. It helped to communicate the unique selling points of Beastwood Skatepark to the wider public and to create a strong sense of belonging for those who use the space. The branding has also been effective in attracting new users to the park and in creating a buzz around the local community.

In conclusion, the branding and naming project for Beastwood Skatepark was a creative and strategic process that helped to capture the spirit and ethos of the skatepark. The final branding elements, including the logo, slogan, tone of voice, and visual identity, reflect the vibrant and inclusive community that Beastwood Skatepark has become. The end result is a brand that is both unique and recognizable, positioning the park as a leading player in the skateboarding and urban athletics scene.
